Kirsten Stacey MSEd, LPCC
Hi, I’m Kirsten! My lived experiences fuel my passion to support other queer folks, and my broader passion to provide high-quality therapy to anyone looking for an affirming provider. I am passionate about working with queer individuals, individuals seeking eating disorder recovery and support, and individuals experiencing the aftermath of trauma. I have a specific drive for working with Avoidant-Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), panic/anxiety, perfectionism, and religious trauma.
I received my masters in clinical mental health counseling from the University of Dayton (Go Flyers!). I completed my internship training in the university counseling center where I focused on supporting queer students, folks navigating their relationships with food and their bodies, and students seeking empowerment as they transitioned into adulthood. Shortly after, I moved to the Cincinnati area to begin working with eating disorders in higher levels of care. I have also spent some time educating fellow clinicians and future therapists on eating disorder treatment, weight-inclusive healthcare, and queer-affirming care.
Every human deserves to take up space. Whether that looks like advocating for school or work accommodations, setting strong boundaries in relationships, making difficult relationship decisions, seeking out healthcare providers who make you feel safe and heard, or loudly rejecting diet culture: I love to work with and empower folks to take up that space.
My approach is typically client-led and I love getting creative in sessions to best fit each person individually. Communicating through pop culture, art, and music? Perfect! Prefer good old fashioned worksheets or open-ended questions? Can do! Playing cards, making slime, using fidgets? Absolutely! I love integrating a client’s personal touch into evidence-based practices. I tend to lean toward techniques from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Radically-Open DBT, Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP), and parts work. I am dedicated to continuous education, and consistently seeking out updated treatment modalities, which I carefully modify to support every individual's needs in treatment.
Outside of the office, one might catch me dancing with abandon at a silent disco, riding my motorcycle, kayaking, and doing various other “outdoorsy” activities.
