Hello! I am Kelsey (she/her), a neurodivergent therapist licensed in Ohio, with experience working with children, teens and adults. I'm excited about helping you create a safe place to name and undo the harm that comes from living in a broken, disconnected society. I borrow from disability studies, as well as my background in biology and trauma informed care, to provide a therapy relationship that dances between helping you figure out what needs to shift in your brain and what needs to shift in your environment.
I can't wait to celebrate your special interests and to find out how they will contribute to your journey in therapy. My special interests (flowers, children's literature and board games) make their way into my therapy interventions, like using fresh daffodils to teach grounding, reading a picture book that portrays emotional acceptance, or playing a board game to build rapport. I have experience with Community Development work, using special interests and projects to help people do the brave work of discovering their neighbors' gifts. I can't wait to cheer you on as you build deeper relationships with your people or find them for the first time.
In adult work, I often pull interventions from Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT) and from DBT's emotional regulation and mindfulness skills. This is in addition to my systems focused lens. With children, I use child centered play and attachment; I especially like to work closely with parents of young children (4-7) to support their children's regulation skills, while also diffusing all of the big emotions that a child can bring up in their grown ups. I'm also interested in helping people recognize and heal from religious trauma, purity culture and high demand religion and I would love to work with you if this is part of your story.
If you think you would like to work with me, you can ask any additional questions via email or schedule a phone consultation or intake.
